How can I join the conference?

Up to two young people per EU Member State have already been selected as participants during an application process that is closed by now.

Please note that the registration for all other attendees has been closed due to the limited number of participants.

If you have already received a confirmation of your registration, please remember to complete the accreditation until 27 September the latest.

Who participates at the conference?

The conference will be a space for open discussions at eye level between people from different generations, backgrounds and organisations: young people and youth representatives, Ministers for Gender Equality, political representatives from EU organisations as well as experts from NGOs and public institutions.

Experts and newbies in the area of gender equality are welcome to join in the interactive and participatory debate.

How can I get funding to attend the conference?

The conference can be attended free of charge.

Please note that applications for funding will no longer be accepted. Funding for travel and accommodation is provided for two youth representatives, one expert from public administration and one NGO representative from each EU Member State.

Participants who have been confirmed funding by the organisers will receive further information on reimbursement prior to the conference.

Who organises the conference?

'Gender Equality and YOU. Young Voices. Joint Initiative' is organised by the Austrian Federal Chancellery, in cooperation with the Austrian National Youth Council and the European Youth Forum on the occasion of the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The conference is co-funded by the European Commission.

What are the conference languages?

The conference will be held entirely in English.

What will be the outcomes of the conference?

During the one-and-a-half-day conference participants will work together on the outcome documents of the conference. The format and contents of this outcome document will be shaped within the conference.

Additionally, the outcomes will feed into a set of council conclusions on gender equality drafted by the Austrian Presidency. It is envisaged that the Council of the European Union will adopt these conclusions in December 2018.

All conference participants will be informed on the outcomes within the follow-up process.

Is the conference venue accessible barreer-free?

The venue of the conference, i.e. the permanent conference and media center in the Austria Center Vienna, is fully accessible.

Will childcare be provided during the conference?

Childcare for children over three years can be provided at the conference venue on 11 and 12 October. Please note that this service is subject to a minimum number of five registrations. Therefore we kindly ask you to indicate in the accreditation system at your earliest convenience whether you would need childcare during the event. The organisers will confirm the availability of this service in September, depending on the number of registrations. For further information please contact us directly.
